Takeover Radio - Europe’s only radio station run by kids, for kids - is organising and hosting a national conference to highlight the work they do, encourage debate, invite feedback from other people in the industry and develop a strategy for the development of children’s involvement in broadcasting in the UK.

The conference will be held in Leicester – where Takeover Radio HQ is based. Venue yet to be confirmed.

On Saturday 16th September 2006. 9am for 9.30 start to 4pm finish

Everyone is invited but particularly those who are already involved in children in broadcasting and those who are thinking about getting involved, or taking the first steps.

We are hoping to attract around 150 delegates however more can be accommodated. Quality rather than quantity is the order of the day.

It will cost just £10 for adults with under 18s free, you will need to pre-book in order for the catering to be planned.

The format of the day would be

9am Arrival/registration/coffee/networking

9.30am Welcome/introduction – Graham Coley, Takeover Radio

10am Breakout seminars

Setting up a community radio station

How & where to get funding

The technical side of radio

Media training and courses

A beginner’s guide to school radio

How to promote your kidz’ radio station

11.30am Exhibition stands/networking

12.30pm Lunch

1.30pm Focus groups/feedback

2.30pm Coffee break

3pm Key note speaker (to be announced)

3.45pm Summary of event/what happens next

4pm Close

Takeover radio would be interested in hearing from any group or individual who would be interested in attending this event and the number of people who would be coming.

If you have any suggestions as to what else could be included please let them know.

As community radio begins to grow it is really important that the young people are not forgotten and missed out as with commercial radio.
