Throughout February, we were delighted to partner with The UK Kids’ Comedy Festival which took place right here in Leicester. As well as broadcasting upcoming shows as part of the programme, we also used clips from ‘Kids’ Joke Spot’ on the station. The Joke Spot is a project whereby the festival take a miniature stage around the county for children to step up and tell jokes to passers by. Some of our personal favourites were:

“What do you call a cow with no legs? Ground Beef.”

“My boss told me to have a good day, so I went home”

“What do you get when you cross a cow and an owl? Twit-twmoo”.

As part of the final weekend of the festival, we also took part in the Laugh Term Comedy School Showcase which took place at Curve Theatre. The event saw a group of young people aged 7-18 putting together stand up comedy sets after a week of workshops based around comedy.

We set up our popup studio on the mezzanine at Curve and interviewed workshop leaders and participants. Following the event on the Friday, a team of writers, editors and presenters produced a highlights show featuring interviews and clips from the performances. Take a listen to the results above!
