Takeover Radio runs a number of radio training courses for people aged between 8 to 35.

Training courses range from presentation for young people, to a full college course with an eventual Qualification avaliable for those passing the full course down the line in co-operation with Leicester College.

NCFE Level 2 Extended Diploma in Radio Production

Takeover Radio in partnership with Leicester College

Course Summary...
The Radio Production Course is a hands-on practical guide to producing and presenting a radio show. Professional broadcasters will guide you through the skills involved every step of the way.

Students complete a showreel CD during the course. The course will run throughout the college term-year, starting in September, and takes place on a Thursday evening.

You would need to be 16 or over and registered with Leicester College. This is a free course to qualifying students.

Takeover Radio "Crew" Courses

The Takeover "Crew" courses are exclusively for members of The Crew aged 8 to 16

Presenter Course...
The presenter course lasts for 10 weeks and will teach the young people everything an adult would learn on a similar radio course, from production to presentation and more.

News and Sports Course...
Young members will take part in learning everything about preparing and presenting news, from gaining a story, writing it up, preparing it for presentation and more.

The Fast Forward Course

Currently in partnership with Leicester City Council

Course Summary...
The Fast Forward course is a non acredited in house course run by Takeover Radio Children's Media Trust. Throughout the course you will learn what makes up a radio show, design your own show, then produce and record it.

Your show will be made up of whatever you want whether that's an R&B or Rock music show, a chat show or whatever you want your show to be.

If you are not up for talking out loud then you could be interested in the technical bits. Drive the show, do digital editing, learn the basics of the equipment its up to you.

You will begin with a tour of Takeover Radio you will see how Takeover Radio works and go into the studios and meet the presenters who are "on air" at the time.

Most of the course is based in the studios at Takeover Radio. The course will last over a 10 week period either during the day or in the early evening.

The course is open to groups of young people from organisations, you need to have between 8 and 10 young people and funding needs to be secued perior to the course starting. This can come from the organisation or a charitable funder.

In the past Takeover Radio has teamed up with the Leicester Children's Fund, NSPCC, LSC, The Local Network Fund and Awards For All to offer this course. We can work with your organistation to secure the funding. The cost is £3,500

To qualify you would need to meet the funders critiria

Radio Taster Courses
This is a one day course held at the weekends, students should have an enthusiasum for the radio business. You will have a tour of Takeover Radio, record an interview and edit it, produce and present a short programme which will be recorded for you to take a way. All students will receive practical advice on how to get into the radio industry.

The cost is £150 and you should be over 16 years old (pricing correct as of March 2009)
